Wiener Library Gallery + Fred Kormis: Sculpting the 20th Century
The Wiener Holocaust Library is one of the world’s leading and most extensive archives on the Holocaust, the Nazi era and genocide.
All Things Studio worked with the Library over two years to rethink the their temporary exhibition gallery, designing new visitor reception, flexible display panels, showcases, shop display and storage.
Our designs were intended to be simple, robust and flexible to allow the Library to display a large range of diverse content long into the future. We thought deeply about sustainable and adaptable display systems and devised a set of magnetic shelves, plinths and panels that can be reconfigured to suit a range of 2D and 3D objects.
We were also responsible for designing the first temporary exhibition in the new space, a retrospective of sculptor Fred Kormis. Our design for the exhibition was clear and calm, helping give order and presence to a wide range of the sculptor’s work, from preparatory sketches, maquettes and personal ephemera though to finished works.
